Sunday's Song # 2: "Build Me Up Buttercup"

One of my many favorite songs that Clay Aiken sings is "Build Me Up Buttercup."  Clay sang it on American Idol and on his Tried and True Live performance for PBS.

 

 According to Wikipedia,  this song's writers were Mike d'Abo and Tony Macaulay. The Spotify playlist- click the purple photo here-
has the original version as recorded by The Foundations. I think the song has a peppy beat, even though the lyrics are not that positive. What do you think?
