Every year, the National Inclusion Project (formerly the Bubel Aiken Foundation) has a special benefit called the Champions Gala. It is usually held on the third weekend of every October. Clay Aiken, one of the co-founders of the charity usually hosts the event and provides special music. This year the event was rescheduled for December 9th-10th because Mr. Aiken had a previous engagement. The Gala is a great event for Claymates and raises a lot of money that is put to good use providing programs and camps that unite children with developmental disabilities with children who don't have developmental disabilities. Mr. Aiken was a caregiver and was working towards a degree in Special Education before he went on to American Idol. I'm really excited because this year will be my first time to go to the Gala and to visit Raleigh, North Carolina (Clay's hometown) ! Not only will I see Clay live for the fourth time and meet fellow fans whom I've only met online-but the funds are going to a terrific cause!
If you want to know more, check out the Champions Gala link above. There might be tickets still available. By the way, Clay has a special surprise for Gala attendees- a sneak preview of an original song that will be released to radio in early 2012. Get the tickets and room reservations while you still can!
