Wacky Weather

Original photo by PermaSwooned

The weather here in Chattanooga has been weird since Thanksgiving. It's gone from 60 degrees high, to flash flooding to a rain and snow mix in the mountains. It's no wonder that I've got a sore throat and a chest cold! It's like the weather can't make up it's mind yet what season we're in :D! Well, at least this is Clay's birthday and it is also the final day of NaBloPoMo!

Time Out for Thanksgiving

NEW YORK - NOVEMBER 26: Crowds watch the Than...

  • `   Timeout timerThe funniest thing happened on Thursday when I was at my brother and sister-in-law's house celebrating Thanksgiving with my family and my brother's in-laws. After dinner, my four-year-old greatniece put  her uncle(my niece's husband) in time out. I don't know what her uncle did wrong but she told him that was the time-out chair and that he was going to be in time-out for a hundred years. She had her hands on her hips and was so serious about it. It was all the adults could do to keep from rolling over in the floor laughing. My niece's husband is an eye doctor and we teased him about the story he would be telling about his Thanksgiving when he returned to work. My niece and her husband then took my great niece and her sister to the playground and I guess all was forgiven! It was the highlight of the day next to counting our blessings and being with family.
  • I also took a little time out of my blogging schedule one day this weekend-so now I have to double post in both blogs to get 30 posts each by tomorrow for NaBloPoMo. I missed a day or two in the beginning so I double posted a few times.  I've learned a lot by trying to blog on two blogs every day or catching up. I can do this. I probably won't try to blog this often- but will try to write at least 3 times a week on both blogs. For about half of the posts, it was easier to come up with ideas for posts-but the other half I had to really struggle. But, I have met some other women bloggers online and have found some tools and resources for when I get blogger's block. I probably won't do NaBloPoMo for at least 12 months-but I know now that I can make it.  It also gave me a chance to promote my blogs.
  •   Last but not least, I want to thank you, my readers, for your visits and comments.

Doris Day Makes Comeback Album

Doris Day

According to Yahoo News, Doris Day is `releasing an album next month after staying away from the limelight of Hollywood for over 20 years. Not that it's happened yet, but I wonder what a Doris Day-Clay Aiken duet would sound like? How about you?

Can you believe that it has been over 7 years since Clay released his Christmas album, Merry Christmas With Love? It hardly seems possible that it was that long ago-still Clay has matured well as a person and as a musician. `The album was released on November 16th of 2004. Belated happy anniversary to Clay and to all of the Claymates!

Lifted: An Inspiring Movie

Image via Wikipedia
I just saw an amazing and inspiring movie last night on Netflix. Lifted is a fictional movie about a boy, Henry Matthews,  who's father(played by Dash Mihok) is going overseas to serve in the army. His family lives in a small Alabama town with his parents. His mother(played by Nicki Aycock)  is a recovering addict. While running from bullies after school, the boy, played by Uriah Shelton, runs into a church where Ruben Studdard' 's character is pastor. The pastor recognizes Matthews' musical talents  and suggests that he enter a state singing contest for youth.  Meanwhile, conditions at home for Henry aren't going well. His parents lose their home to foreclosure and the contest offers money and a recording contract. The film winds up with a very touching and inspirational ending and a dedication to our fallen soldiers. Although the film is rated PG 13-the film is worth seeing. It will touch your heart!

Today's NaBloPoMo Prompt is inspired by Ricki Lake; The Business of Being Born is a passion project that has been fulfilling on many levels. Are you pursuing a passion project? (Guest Post by Ricki Lake, who can be found on Facebook or Twitter @RickiLakeShow)

I'd like to think that both of my blogs are projects that involve people and thongs that I am passionate about. This blog is more of a personal fangirly blog about Clay Aiken and other subjects that come to mind. The other blog, ApplaUSe For A Cause is more serious- about promoting awareness about different charities. It has evolved to be something totally different from what I first envisioned it to be , in good and bad ways. I had hoped that it would become a place where I and other people, famous and not so famous, could come and promote their favorite charities. Some of that is happening but in a much smaller way than I'd hoped, but still I press on! By the way, if you are a great video maker, ApplaUSe For A Cause has a Charity Video Contest going on right now, so please check out the post, New Charity Video Contest!

"Would You Rather”; Claymania Style

Cover of "Measure Of A Man"
Cover of Measure Of A Man
`This post is purely hypothetical and for fun.   Thanks to  my online friends at the Google Plus page, "Would You Rather?" for inspiring this post; Would you rather spend a day with Clay Aiken(or any celebrity ) and have him set the itinerary of the day or spend an hour with him(or the celebrity of your choice)  at the time, place and situation of your choice? "Would You Rather's” question of the day may leave you humming Clay's song "Invisible"; "Would You Rather have the ability to be a fly on the wall, perfect for those situations when you really want to know what's being said behind closed doors................. Or................... Would You Rather be a real life Dr Dolittle and be able to talk to, and understand animals?”

Clay Aiken- Such a Giving Man

`Photos by Fountaindawg. You can see more of her work at Clay Aiken Kids

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

  •    With the charity that he co-founded and his work as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, the National Inclusion Project, and other nonprofit organizations; it is clear that Clay is a very giving man. He uses his fame to promote worthy causes and concerns.
  •  Some Clay quotes about giving and his responsibilities as a celebrity(from Brainy Quotes); " I know this is going to sound cheesy and like I'm trying to be Miss America, but the most important responsibility a celebrity has is to set an example and be a role model."     " I want to make sure that no matter how long I go through this, I don't fall into the trap of changing and modifying how I do things that aren't a positive example. I want to remain somebody that the entire family can listen to or watch."  "  In my ideal world, no child would suffer. Charitable instincts would prevail. There would be global acceptance of all different types of people."  "It's important that I make a difference in some way. It's not necessarily how I make a difference, but I want to make sure that I do." "It's not the money. It's not the fame. It's the influence."
